DIY PID CONTROLLER FOR SOUS VIDE OR BBQ SMOKER This is a little walk though of how I put together a PID Controller for my modified BBQ Smoker as well as to experiment with sous vide cooking without the extreme costs of store bought units. The total cost of everything put together was under and total time invested in installing everything was under 1.5 hours. **I do not include schematics for the wiring. Please go by the schematics included with your PID controller** **If you are not comfortable with electricity please do not attempt this project.     Thanks for checking out my video! As far as the questions, I didnt put a heatsink on the SSR since I’m not really working it that hard. The crock pot that I use is rather low wattage and it holds temp well so the SSR isnt flicking on/off enough for it to get hot. And for the PT100 I have mine removable by a plug. Send me an e-mail and I can discuss that in more detail.

    Hi, I’m just getting ready to build my own PID controller, using the JLD612 and PT100 RTD for Smoker and Sous Vide application, basically similar to what you have. However, I’m wondering why didn’t you put your SSR with a heatsink, I read most DIY PID controller use heatsink. How about making the PT100 removeable, like a banana plug or 3.5 mm, I’m not sure how that work. Any pointer?
